Featured Skater
Desire, determination, and hard work are the three things that best describe this month’s featured skater. Playing a dual role as a skater and a coach, Smarty Pants of the Texas Rollergirls has been playing roller derby since 2003, and has contributed to the development of roller derby skills and athleticism around the world. As her derby name illustrates, she proves that smart, dedicated skaters can forge long and successful careers in roller derby, and be instrumental in defining the sport we all love. Featured League
Gent GO-GO Roller GirlsHailing from Belgium, Europe, this month's featured league had to really go go hard to get their city—and by extension their country—behind roller derby. The first roller derby league in Belgium, the Gent GO-GO Roller Girls showed up on the European roller derby scene in 2009 and haven’t looked back since. They have developed into fierce competitors on the track (they are the current Benelux champions), and serve as derby big sisters to the new leagues starting around them.
